just wondering does the 7mgte use a map sensor or just the afm if so where is it cause i must be blind?

also suppra girl are you from oz?

suprra_girl 04-20-2005 11:24 AM

the 7mgte uses a karman vortex air flow meter.. so yea, big black box on intake can't miss it ;)

i'm from New Zealand ;) another 2 or so hours south of oz

i take it your talking about the afm where is the vacuum line for the map sensor.

good to see this is a local forum, i thought it was another us one .

im from nsw in oz

the 7m-gte uses both afm and map. the afm is the silvery metal piping with a black box on the side of it just behind the air filter case. the afm is what works the actual running of the engine. the map sensor is purely for the working of the digidash boost guage. it does not in any way affect the running of the car.

ok thanks for the info so far but the what what i really want to know is where is the map (manifold air pressure) senor and which vacuum line it uses.

suprra_girl 04-21-2005 01:17 AM

you wouldn't even be able to use the word map in a 7mgte, it just does not exist

there is the turbo pressure sensor located on the left strut tower, same side as your diagnostic box, it is not efi related in any way

so... 7mgte = no map sensor.. anywhere

unless you magically have a turbo A engine, but then then you wouldn't have an afm if you had one of those ;)

thanks thats what i needed to know

the_fallen 04-21-2005 05:40 AM

um, suze, what is the turbo pressure sensor?? it detects what pressure is running in the inlet manifold. how does it read that? using a map sensor... so technically, a 7m-gte does use a map sensor, just not for the running of the car ;)

stop confusing the natives!!!! LOL

the 7mgte does not have an efi map sensor :P
