realistic hp figure for turbo before internals
i am looking for some numbers in hp on a 5spd turbo supra before going into the engine. of course i am looking for safe numbers i dont want to max out my car one time and then have a scrap engine. so what is a safe hp mark whithout internal work.also what parts are we talking about? boost controller, oversized injectors, maf, exhaust, intake,?????
|
i recall hearing 500hp but id say you might wanna get new internals before that. id say go the whole yards, pistons, rods, bearing, and maybe even the crank...
most ppl dont worry about the internals untill they start modding... |
the shop that i was going to has a "top secret mk3" 650 hp
they told me the stock internals' limits are to 650 hp and 500 horses is still playing it safe |

Point is, unless you rebuild the motor you don't know what you have. A freshly rebuilt 7m probably could handle 550rwhp (with a good tune) but one with 130,000 miles probably won't last long. If you want big power make sure you have money to rebuild the engine after you blow up your hi mileage motor. Getting to 500hp is easy, making it last is where you'll spend most of your money. But hey, what do i know... |
why would you skip over some of the more important parts of a build just so you dont gotta tear up the engine and spend lil more money? why invest all this money then take a risk of it blowing up? its just stupid not to. and when you get up to that mark, whats left to mod?

jus ddnt want it to get bigger or anything cuz i jus had to say b4 pple start asking then if i can prove it, and so on and so on, you know what i mean |
500-550 is a save number on stock internal and the only thing u worry about is to get the headgasket done and everyone knows that
|
I think im going to rebuild my 7mgt and forge my internals the rods bearings and pistons i think i was told the crankshaft should be able to handle the 400 hower i want but i might go safe and get a forged crank and then turbo my na 7mgt o ya and get the compression lowered or highered i forget which one it is
And Nate before you pfffft a 650horsepower car like its weak lets see your dyno sheet and lets get a vid of the car on the dyno cause i saw your burnout picture and i have to say for a 600hp car that looked pretty weak =) |

FYI, that was with the stock turbo. Roughly 270whp. Can your NA even spin both rear tires at the same time?? |
Nate's car I know personally and have worked on it with him and same goes for him working on my car. I say give it 2 months and we will show some track time since we will both be there this year. :)
Dyno sheet as you already saw is proof. but comparing a burnout and trying to insinuate it doesn't look like 667 RWHP is .. well, weak as Nate would say ;) Duane |

And supraman121, you dont need a new crank, just make sure to get it balanced. |
