Jus Got My Car

87 Turbo MK3

nice and everything but a few quirks on it
le me see the temp gauge isnt working
still smoking a lot from all the engine lube used during rebuild
and check engine light came on
but it pretty fast
its jus boostin at 5psi for now

any input in the afformentioned problems

supra90turbo 11-25-2006 01:32 PM

try a new temp sender.
how much smoke? assembly lube goes on bearings, not combustion surfaces.
soo.... what codes did you pull?

Supra2NR 11-25-2006 04:57 PM

im gonna do the diag. today
it gave me so much problems last night im not even kidding u

SupraDupra 11-25-2006 05:30 PM

I never had an engine blowing smoke past breaking the cam in ,and I use engine lube pretty heavily.Did you use any special break in practices? I try to keep my engines under 3000 RPMs for the first 500 miles ,but all I know is rebuilding old V8s so far.

Supra2NR 11-25-2006 06:14 PM

thats the thing it was under 3000 rpms when i was driving

burton51m 11-25-2006 06:38 PM

can we get some pics?

Supra2NR 11-25-2006 08:12 PM

ok, ill try to get sum pics when its smoking maybe you can get a better idea what im dealing with here

the guy is not pickin up his phone anymore, which is f-d up,
omfg, can never buy this car without the previous owner jacking u up

but i did a diagnostic, and a lot came up

!! !! - code 22 = water temp sensor signal

!! !!!! - code 24 = intake air temp sensor signal

!!! ! - code 31 = air flow meter signal

!!!!! ! - code 51 = switch condition signal

kinda a lot came up when i did this
well so much for my very first diagnostic
and i triple checkd the code reading
im pretty sure that is what came up

and p.s. thanx supra girl
to all the newbs that may read this
follow the girl's advice

"do a diagnostic first"

Supra2NR 11-25-2006 08:26 PM

and one more thing i found out
can this cause my car to over heat

the hose underneath where the
cold start injector time switch, charcoal canister vsv, and turbo coolant line sits

the hose underneath has a nasty hole.
idk if u can call it, smoke or steam, but it was coming out of that
http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/7...5061500nc7.jpg

Smoke come right underneath the heatshield,
still unconfirmed where its actually coming from
http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/9090/1125061508hl8.jpg

and i found another thing,
the engine mount on the passenger side is not bolted on
that would explain why the car shakes more than usual

any help would be appreciated
help a fellow supra driver pls

jfunez 11-26-2006 05:53 AM

wow, that was a crappy job the shop did.....I would take it back as soon as posible.....what in the world was done to it to begin with?

Supra2NR 11-26-2006 10:44 AM

it blew a headgasket,
a metal head gasket went it
and a few issues with it

it wasnt from a shop it was jus fixed by the previous owner
he's a muscleman, used to jus engines , i guess
cuz the electronics are a little messed
up

im guessing its the oil line under the turbo thats burning
or its not getting the cooled right, cuz one of the coolant lines is busted
i'll try to see more tomoro
