I have a 1989 supra that has a non-turbo engine in it. And im buying a 89 turbo engine and i was wondering what all i need to swap it over. Like do i need a different tranny or what? Clutch? Anything that i need i need to know.
now would be a good time o change the clutch and flywheel, the tranny on the N/a can't handle much power so that would be a good change to make sure you get the afm for the turbo and probably the ecu they should be different.
how about did you get or have the intercooler and piping and th edown pipe?
Where can i get everything i need for it? I have the engine and ecu and everything. Where could i get the tranny though?

as for the turbo tranny, it has a different style clutch, throw out bearing and slave cylinder. so, be sure to get those extra pieces.
Would the non-turbo tranny bolt up to the turbo engine even? If it does i could just get a higher stage clutch for now?
they will bolt up, however you would need the equivalent of a stage 2 or 3 non turbo clutch for it to hold-gracefully. however, you can use a stage 1 turbo disc with the non turbo pressure plate stage 1. it should keep costs down and holding capacity up. now so far as how long the actually tranny will survive, depends on you.

WELL LIKE I SAID....IF YOU GOT A AUTO. N YOU WANT TO CONVERT.....FROM AUTO TO 5SPEED YEAH...YOU DO NEED TO REWIRED THE TRAINNY WIRE......READ AGAIN ONE MORE TIME CAREFULLY THO... :P |

the only wire there is the neutral start switch. you dont have to make it seem soo dramatic. |

:D well...yeah..... :P |
Ok i got all of this.... THeres just one problem....I can't find a turbo wiring harness for the car. Is there any websites where i can get the whole engine ecu and wiring harness....maybe even the tranny for the car?? If its an auto tranny i'll just sell it and get a 5 speed. Without the wiring harness i can't do jack shit....Unless the non-turbo harness will fit it..
k... old trannie will bolt up to gte motor... as previously mentioned there is just the fix for the neutral start switch required ;)
you could try on www.supramania.com in the parts section to see if anyone has some lying around that is fairly close to your area or can ship it out to ya :) just get the ecu, engine harness, engine, some rewiring required to mate the na body harness to the turbo lmk how you get on :) |
hi i am new to this site but i have a 1990 non turbo supra, and i was wondering if i could use a block from the 7mgte to make the car turbo. thanks
