to fix im not to sure

to take the old one off is pretty easy just take off the cover that is above the cluster and there is a couple more screws behinde that and then you unplug it and your done. (you might have to take out the center piece and were the fog light, light dimmer, defrogger swichs are to get to a couple screws.)

i found the whole thing with all the gauges. gotta go pick it up this weekend. was just wandering how hard it would be to pull the old one and put the new one in.

it can be the speed cable from the tranny to the cluster too... or it can be the adapter from tranny to the cable too...

hope this help you little bit tho hehe...

cause that what it happen to me when i on the way home from my friend house and driving fast on the highway... hehe...

i have already replaced the small cable from tranny to frame. did that first week i had it already checked that its still good. the speedometer ahs been making a squeking noise last 3 days. car has over 250k on it and almost everything is still original.

it should be easy to replace. you have to take off the center console piece, the foglight/defog piece. take the top cover off, about 6 screws if theyre all there, take off the screws you see now that are going into the white part of the cluster. unplug all the connector behind the cluster and disconnect the speedo cable. now just pull out. be careful when you work around the speedo cable cus that tip will break easily. i broke mine last week.

I think the drive cable or adapter are more at fault than the gauge cluster. The toyota gauges are very reliable, As far as them working correctly.

you can use part of this page to help you out
http://supra.co.nz/swap.htm

once you have all the screws from the other items undone you should be able to see all the screws that hold the cluster in

as you start sliding the cluster out you will need to unplug the harness as you go because you won't be able to pull it right out straight away :)
