Arrow i was thinkin side exit exhaust system for my 87 supra....

i got an idea of putting a side exhaust system kit on my 87 supra...
i was wondering if any you know has done or tried this out.
i think it would be pretty fucking sweet. recommended brands or custom made? or just let me know your opinion on what you think of this idea....peace

Most likely you'll have to get it custom made. Most muffler shops should be able to help you with this if they are a dedicated exhaust shop.

As for my opinion, I'd get a custom side skirt and have the exhaust come out right in front of the rear tires, maybe a rectangle tip like they have on some of the Roush mustang kits.

yea i figured i'd have to get it custom made, and i think that's probably the best location for them. i just don't want my tires melting while i'm driving...haha
i think maybe cutting like a section off the side skirts just before the rear tire
would look pretty sweet...and i was more likely considering rectangular like you said rather than a circular tip

thanks for the reply man...

NP at all, it was something I was considering when I was looking at body kits. But now that I want to keep my supra looking original I've decided against doing. Maybe in a few years if I want to do a body kit again I'll look into side pipes again! Let me know how it works out for ya, and if you get it done, POST PICS! I wanna see how it looks!

that would be a nice idea, i thougth about it once, but i like having the muffler
which i dunt know how your gonna do that if its going to exit in the side
but it would have it advantages,
a shorter exhaust, will have less bends, and less surface for the exhaust to travel
and lesser air constriction,
do you have a turbo or n/a?

the latest thing i'm goin to work on, i am goin to personally draw out how i want it to look, and if i can, i'll post up a picture of that for everyone
thanks for the reply man...

one thing about side exhausts is the tips get dirty real easily because of the dirt/dust the front tires kick up. but if you are gonna have it come out of the side skirt i dont think that would be a problem. also i would advide you to add a turbo before doing this

yea i think coming out of the side skirts would look the best and probably be the way i do it...i'm still deciding on whether do it on both sides or just the passenger side????????

Out the pass. side alone would be easiest. Going to the other side might be problematic getting across the driveline.
