Broken spark plug! HELP!
Today i was changing the spark plugs and i took the last one out or tryed and i got the spark plug it self and the hex nut but the hex nut broke off at the threads leaving the lower half of the plug in the engine!!! If someone could tell me a tool that i could use to get it out i would be for ever greatful, Or tell me how much work it would be to do myself,(How much will this cost to have someone take it out for me)
Thanks |
I've sen a lot of weird shit happen on cars, but not your problem.
If it were mine (n/a motor), I would bring the cylinder up to TDC (using the distributor to make sure). Then I would use a punch & hammer to knock out(into the engine) the ceramic that remains. Then I would use an 'easy out' to remove the remaining threaded part from the head. There are several kinds of removers. I would 'try' the common one first, as it is the cheapest. DON'T turn it so hard that IT breaks off inside, as you will never get that out. Also, soak the parts with WD40 real good for a couple hrs before starting. Do this now ! |
i was getting the alarmed dissconnected and i asked the auto place to see what they could to they said it wasnt any big deal they could get it out... they didnt give me a quote but i told them to do it. With the alarm dissconnection and the spark plug taken out it cost me 200 bucks and they change them for me put in my bosch platnum 2's in so it works great. But told me i needed to get the intake manifold and the throttle body cleaned badly and i need a new set of wires.
That's what happenes when no one takes care of a car. lol (it wasnt me i just bought it) lol |
