Well if you already know your HG is blown...its possible your losing compression out 1 or more cylinders and thats will certainly affect your idle. HG replacement is at worst a 2 day job if your going with a Toyota gasket (more than enough with ARP's torqued to 72#) Isp' you need to get that fixed before doing any other diag 'cause it will almost certainly affect your results.
As for the OP, unless your willing to go and buy a fuel pressure gauge, its almost impossible to diag the fuel system. about the only thing you can do is throw parts at it. I wouldnt do that if it was me.
