No Rpm's

So I just got an 88 7MGTE put in another vehicle, when I pulled it it ran great. Now it starts up fine but it won't rev up high enough to get into the turbo. It cuts out, and black really rich smoke comes out the exhaust. I have a 3 " exhaust. Oh and another wierd thing. When I first got it done it ran like this and then all of the sudden started running perfect. I rolled it, and now it runs like this again.

one more thing

I pulled codes and it gave it me knock sensor, starter signal open or short, and I dont remember the third one but, it didnt seem like it was something that had enough power to do that.

Any ideas, maybe the timing not advancing? I dont know, any thoughts would be nice.

Search for "boost leak". You have one. There is A LOT of threads on it.

I know I have a boost leak. I ordered a new hose. Would that cause it to cut out so violently?

yeah it depends on what hose it is that blew. i blew off the hose to the bottom of the turbo on mine and i couldn't go. the car couldn't go more than 5mph. i thought i screwed the car up but then i saw the hose and fixed it. and some hoses will make the car not work to full potential and cut some boost. so boost makes a big difference on how it runs.

Well when the motor is under vaccum, its trying to squish the tubes, so it would seal the crack. Then once the pressure comes on, the air leaks out, and then your ecu thinks the motor is using the air, and dumps the ammount of fuel for air thats going in, but its not getting into your motor (the black smoke is the extra fuel).
