Water not going back in to raditor from recovery tank help ok i filled up my raditor with water and anitfreeze and drove my car thne when i was checking the water then ext morning the recovery tank was half full and the raditor needed water so i fill ed the raditior and put some water in the tank but the water wont go back fomr the tank in to the raditor so i ahve to put waterin it befroe i drive it evertime HELP PLEASE

The radiator cap seal may be damaged. Get a new one for $6.
You may have a tiny leak in the cooling system, which will not allow the radiator to suck coolant back in during cool down. If you don't find one, BHG comes to mind.

That sound right...try the cap first.

i got a new cap like 3 weeks a go me and my dad juust put in a can of block seal we will see if that will work

Replace that rubber hose that goes from the cap area to the overflow bottle and put hose clamps on it. I had a leak there. And make sure the overflow bottle lid is on good. Any air leak in the coolant system above the bottle will let air in instead of overflow coolant when your car cools off. And dont fill the radiator all the way to the top, Leave about 1/2 - 3/4 inches at the top. If you fill it all the way up its of course going to pump all that out when its warm. Its not supposed to be full to the max.

This is incorrect.

Our cars, like most others, was designed to be completely full of coolant. The overflow bottle is there to catch, and save, any coolant that flows over the cap pressure, 13lbs.

The car may NOT send coolant to the bottle, as mine does not, unless it gets hot from extreme conditions, such as racing, mtn roads, A/C on and temps well over 100* in slow city driving, etc. (BHG's can do it quickly).

And if not idled for a coulpe of minutes before shutdown after doing some of the afore mentioned extremes, it will send some to the bottle upon engine shutdown.

If coolant does flow into the bottle, and if the system is properly functioning (everything is correct), the coolant will get sucked back into the radiator when the engine cools down for a couple of hrs.

This is why the system is always "full".

well mines woks good except the water wont go back to the raditor it stayes in the tank i think i have leaking head gasket se we put in a cand of block seal to thseal it all up i have block sealed some others cars before when they we leaking this sohuld fix it i hope

Are you having any water boil over to the bottle regularly?? That is a sign.

The gasket usually leaks near #6 cylinder. When it fires, it pushes a tiny amount of pressurizes combustion gas into the coolant, which then get too much pressure, and blows water to the bottle.

This is why If it is a BHG, block seal will NOT work on our cars.

Because its crap lol. And thats for like a hole or crack in a metal part. It wont fix a leaking headgasket. And I didnt know aobut the full radiator thing, I thought it was supposed to be at least under the hole for the overflow. You learn something new everyday!
