I was wondering what BOV i should go with? hks ssq, blitz, greddy? the new hks bov is not able to be manually adjusted; but i also read that the spring action bov aren't that reliable and good; so i just want some feedback to what some peeps are using. thanks

A lot depends on what kind of sound you want.

get one that recirculates instead of one that dumps excess boost

err... they're ALL "spring action"...

IMO, the ssqv sounds the best. And since its the kind of valve that pressure would keep closed(puller instead of pusher), Its unlikely to leak boost. But ive never persoanlyl used one, so cant help that much :(

so if pressure closes it, what opens it?

No, the ssqv doesnt recirculate. There is a forge recirculated one, and some that are 50/50. Most stlyes of valves have a spring holding them closed, And the pressure pushing against the valve. Ie, Pusher(pressure wants to push it open). The ssqv has the pressure from the turbo holding the valve closed, So the more pressure the harder it is to leak. And what opens it is the vaccum on the other side of the throttle body after you close the throttle. Thats what opens all BOVs. It realses the pressure for 2 reasons. When you close the throttle, There is still a large column of air moving under pressure from the turbo through the whole IC and piping to the throttle. If the pressure backs up, It can slow the turbo down. Thats always bad. 2nd, It makes a backwave of air pressure, Which can damage the turbo.

Whether its good or bad is your choice but what happens is all the air the MAF just read gets blown into the atmosphere with every shift but the fuel that was meant for that air still gets injected into the engine so it can cause a little flooding and sometimes stall. Initially i never stalled when i had it, but now with all the work I did to the car I stall once in great while when the car is cold and I shift and when warmed up have a little flame out the pipe from first to second if I'm getting on it. So not a big deal unless you've been taking poor care of the car and back fire really hard. There is an attachment for the HKS SSQV that someone was selling that lets you recirculate if you want.
