new headgasket, now no sparky
 

Ok, had the dreaded BHG on my 87 turbo.

Pulled the head, took it to the machine shop, had it milled .006 to straighten it, got a valve job, then put the thing back together.

Now, it will not even attempt to spark. Had my girl crank it with a screwdriver in the spark plug boot and holding on to chassos ground, didn't even light me up.

I'm guessing I may have missed an electrical connection somewhere (someone shoot the person that designed the wiring harness to run between intake runners...)

My question is, which ones will absolutely kill spark? (besides the coil packs, of course)

My neighbor seems to think that all 3 coil packs just went bad simultaneously while they were off the car. I think not likely. I suspect my work before I suspect bad parts.

anyway, any suggestions to get this thing to fire? I think I have the timing straight, lined up crank on 0, both cams straight up, cps on little notchy thingy, but no fire.

this is very depressing after all the work I put into it, and any assistance would be appreciated.

make shure the CPS is connected properly and also the coil packs.but most importantly would be the crank sensor, cant remember where its at but check it..

Found the issue, the wires to the cps were broken right at the connector (on the harness side, of course). Tried to remove the pins from the connector to rewire it, but the plastic disintegrated. Got pissed off and wired in a flat-4 trailer plug with about 4" of extra wire on each side. Not pretty, but fired right up.

Well I finished replacing my MHG and got it all back together about 2 weeks ago but when I try to start it there is not spark. Any ideas, whats the most common this it could be?

make shure the distributor is hooked up (also known as a CPS on turbo models)
and also the coils are hooked up..

hello, Hows it goin? Ive been roaming around the forum for a while and decided to join.Im in San antonio, Tx. I have a 2004 f-150, 1965 willys/jeep, and my new toy is the yota sup, but im getting no spark. I bought the 87 sup last sunday, and have found that i am getting no spark. I have the manual, and have tested the packs and igniter iaw the man. the gap is good on the csp. Is there anything else I can check? thanx in advance.

I merged all these posts, Because they are the same thing. No spark!

And to help out, Change your spark plugs, Clean up the holes/threads they were in, Check your wires resistance(good idea to replace anyway), And make sure everything is plugged in (all sensors, grounds, battery, etc). And then test it by putting a spark plug in each wire, And hold the threads against a ground(make sure you hold it by the wire, not the plug or boot) and tell someone to crank the engine. Should make a nice blue spark. Check all the wires/coils that way

And to biotch, Make sure the igniter thing is plugged in and working, And check all your coils via the signal wire and the spark wire, By way of the tsrm. And then make sure your CPS is hooked up and working. Ill give you the links!

what about after that? all the elec. is good ive tested ohms, resistance, volts, and grounds. I removed the timing cover, and made sure it was all aligned, and at tdc. The book says that the cps isnt rebuildable, is this true? All the plugs,belts and wires are new.
