hotter than hell

i just changed my coolant. its sitting above the full line in the resvior. my engine heats a lot faster than i think it should but stays right between the hot and cold on the thermostat. then it takes a lot longer for it to cool down. could this be because of the wrong mixture or the wrong kind of antifreeze (i put in pride antifreeze and coolant.)? i didnt do exactly 50/50 because some water spilled out. should i add a little more water? Thanks for the help.:)

im pretty sure its just cause ur cars a turbo. turbo's run hotter than n/a cars. dont worry. as long as u dont hit the red zone ur ok. and as for ur mixture, i only use coolant. or just antifreeze. i never mix or add water at all.

burton51m 08-16-2006 02:04 PM

just buy the premix 50/50 nextime. its a lot easier.

tone loc 08-16-2006 04:45 PM

ya i wanted to get the pre mix but they didnt have any at car quest so whatever and my car isnt a turbo.

Supra2NR 08-16-2006 05:23 PM

forget about the 50/50
i use straight coolant
it cools the engine better for me

if you go and buy premix, your paying the same price as just coolant, but your getting half the coolant. it doesnt make sense to buy premix unless your really in a hurry. buy just coolant, pour some in, add some water. or run straight coolant like some people. i dont know if that helps or not.

Supra2NR 08-17-2006 01:56 AM

leave the man alone

cmon tell me
who actually uses a idk
a lab tube or something

then measures thier coolant , and the water then
pours in there?

who ? who?

thats what makes it fun, the monkey science that every guy does with his car
lol

burton51m 08-17-2006 03:42 AM

i dont know, but i would probably screw up the mixing process too so dont worry

thats why i get 5050 lol

look at you chicago ppl looking after eachother..thats nice (btw i am not starting anything cuz i know u have a short fuse, 2nr)

RMTC 08-24-2006 05:48 PM

Did you notice a difference in temperature running straight coolant?

Isphius 08-24-2006 08:39 PM

coolant has less thermal conductivity than water by a slight ammount, So it shouldnt cool as well, But ive never tested it. But it has a lower freezing point and higher boiling point, so your safer there. If the coolant was better, wed all just be using straight coolant and never need to use water. There is a reason they add water.
