help! white smoke out tail pipe

i changed my oil yesterday and when i started my car today white smoke started pouring out my tail pipe and it smells but that could be because my car is in the garage.(garage door was open) Can someone tell me what the problem could be and what should i do to fix it? Thanks

how do u check oil level? u have to run the car a little then turn off engine wait a few minutes then check right? If thats how u do it then the oil level is perfect.

White smoke (more like steam and has a sweet smell?) bluish white smoke (acrid oder, smells like burning oil?) or Black smoke (smells like gasoline?)...and its coming right out of the tailpipe? or is it possibly burning off the engine somwhere? (maybe you spilled some oil when you were changing it?)

Also recheck your fluids, make sure your oil is amber and your coolant is green (or orange if you use that kind). If your fluids are ok, let it idle and reach normal operating temp. Watch it closely, look for the source of an leaking fluids. Watch the temperature gauge, and pay attention to any funny noises or anything out of the ordinary.

Let us know what you find out.

rule or smokes..black is gas...blue is oil and white is coolant. u prob have a coolant leak sumwhere. the coolant is getting burnt and comming out of ur exhaust

Just let it idle a while and see if it goes away. Sometimes that happens when you change the oil. It can pool and get sucked in through the PCV system. Try running with the oil cap off and see if smoke comes out of the oil cap. If it does, Thats bad. And check to see if the coolant is getting burned. The smells of car fluids are all very distinct, but they are hard to describe. Do like supran2r said and give it a smell. Antifreeze you cna taste and smell, its sweet and smells like an old gym locker kinda. Power steering or Trans fluid smells kinda like carrot juice/ass. Oil just smells like burning...oil. You should be able to tell. And there is pretty much nothing else that could be burning through the motor.
