Post manual conversion help

hi,

i am converting my auto to manual and was wondering what the first propeller shaft is. i know it is the driveshaft but what part of it. is it easier to just get the whole thing and take it apart or can i just get one piece of it. he has the whole thing, but it will be cheaper on shipping if he can send only what i need.

also do i need to manual gas pedal?
what are the tranny to engine block wings/braces?

thanks for any help

these were all in a post by tony and i don't understand some of what he is talking about. if anyone can help or knows how to contact him. i tried to pm him but his message box is full

are you doing the larger or smaller manual, out of a n/a or a turbo supra? what you need is the first part of the drive shaft, the part that goes into the transmission, you dont need the part that bolts onto the diff. the front part of the shaft should bolt right onto the second part of your shaft, then it will be a little shorter and fit correctly. This is a list of what i needed from the manual for my tranny swap.

flywheel
clutch setup
break peddle
transmission
front part of the drive shaft
shifter

it all bolted up very nice, and no fabrication was needed at all. oh and something else i learned the hard way about the manual tranny out of the turbo supra i dont think it is the same way with the n/a tranny, but you have to bolt the clutch into the flywheel AFTER you bolt the transmission in. just put the clutch into the splines on the tranny and put them in as an assembally otherwise the transmission wont fit while trying to lift it into the car. and finally, just in case it is the larger tranny, you will either need to get the bottom brackets from the turbo engine, or use the bell housing from the automatic tranny, or two of the bolts will not line up correctly and you will be using 6 of the 8 bolts, which probably is not a good idea. and good luck getting that damn starter out of the car...

your welcome, the braces are bolted onto the bottom of the engine block. they hold the bottom 4 bolts on the transmission, kinda look like a skeliton type thingy. and you dont need the gas peddle.

just put the clutch into the splines on the tranny and put them in as an assembally otherwise the transmission wont fit while trying to lift it into the car.

I didnt have any trouble putting in the tyranny with the clutch already installed...hmmm....interesting

did you have the smaller manual tranny out of a non turbo, or did you have the larger tranny out of the turbo, the one with the clutch covers on the housing?
