Window trim question

Ive seen lots and lots of Mk3s with window trim that is shabby at best. The plastic coating stuff falls off...And then it is shiny metal that doesnt fit right. My question is, Is there anyone who makes and sells the trim, Or someone who can recoat all the parts. The whole back of my car looks like crap because the trim is all falling apart. And most of the clips are broken, Can you buy these too? Im about to break out the sheet metal tools and make my own trim... But anyways, If anyone knows of what to do about the trim or a place that sells it reasonably, please let me know.

i would like to know also. shiny silver window trim metal doesnt look good on a nice supra....or any supra for that matter. mine is peeling off and im a little mad about it:mad:

i just sanded then put a few good coats of rustolium and then used a clear coat for model cars

edit* its been about a month and it still looks good but georgia has good weather for paint jobs..might want to use different paints or go back to vinal

I cant do that with mine, because piexes of the coating are missing and whatnot. I would need to have it recovered in plastic or replaced altogether

i want mine done so that it looks like nothing ever happened to it. if i sand it and paint it you will be able to see the spots where it is peeling.

Toyota has them. $555 for the rear hatch and the 2 rear quarter panel window trim.

sounds off the wall but this maybe a good idea..is there any type of plastics manufacturer in your area?

the way the coat the parts is by a thin sheet and glue basicly get in good with the owner/boss/forman and see if he can get you sheets of the crap just ask for the scraps the parts are small he'll more then likely give them to you

use a medium grit sandpaper to score the metal apply the glue use a heat gun to warm up the plastic/vinal so you can mold it around the part when the glue is tacky apply the vinal then heat it up so you can mold it

its worth a shot..i mean..555? thats insane does that price cover the whole hatch? or just the glass? lololol

$555:eek2: toyota is really making a profit b/c they cant be that expensive
