Air filter removal is a pain
 

I was trying to get to the air filter to see if it needs replaced in a Supra I just bought but it is being a tough bastard about it. The manual says to loosen the clamp at the accordian hose and unplug the air sensor and remove that 10 mm bolt. After loosening the accordian hose clamp, it doesn't wanna move anywhere. I mean it slides back a little but no where the amount I need so that I can pull the air box out. Is there an easier way of getting to the air filter or am I just being retarded?

I have the same problem. My supra, a 1987 T has a FILTHY air cleaner. However I have not been able to remove that airbox. I kinda felt stupid for not being able to do that...when I can rebuild an engine if I had to. If someone could actually explain this to us, that would be great!

It's MUCH easier with a new accordian hose.
I'm very sure that your hose is old, dryrotted, and hard.
That makes the hose very hard to move. What I had to do is loosen the clamp at the turbo, and pull it away on that end. Then you can swing it down and pull the filter out like that. It's a lot of work to just check the filter, but that's the way you gotta do it if you've got an old accordian hose.
