89 supra turbo

Ok theres a 89 supra ive been dieing to get but have to wait until monday so they can change the airflow sensor chip, that car has 152k on it and a mint body. The lot wants $5,900 for her and i dont know if this is a very fair price for a 89 although my buddy with a 97 talon tsi agrees to the price ... moral is this... was woundering if you can tell me the most common things to go on a car like this and if its a very exspensive car to mantain not insurance wise because my quote was only 1200/yr, but just in general, thanks for the help

That is a lot of $$$ in my opinion for a car with that many miles on it...

frostburn 06-23-2006 08:45 PM

hmmm ... i dont know what to do i like the car alot... its just hmm... i love to race and i havent exactly found anything i like driving, ... the eagle talon tsi is alright but i need something with more spunk, plus i was thinking of urgrading the turbo in the supra to a T04b turbo what you think of that model?...

joel w 06-23-2006 08:58 PM

To answer your other question, the head gaskets seems to be a weak link in the stock motors because of low torque on the head bolts from the factory imo.

I had my stock turbo compressor wheel upgraded to a larger compressor wheel so I do not know about that turbo..

frostburn 06-23-2006 09:21 PM

but isnt it true if u put a stronger bolt on it then it will hold, so ive read but cant beleive everything you read.. i guess what u think?

frostburn 06-23-2006 10:17 PM

anyone else can help plz? with there exsperiences

joel w 06-23-2006 11:04 PM

I used the stock bolts with no worries but I am  .

Lots of people go with the ARP stud/bolt kits for higher boost..

frostburn 06-23-2006 11:07 PM

im kinda worried i know that my buddies talon tsi always has problems and he tells me that this car also will have meny problems but they are to be exspected with a trubo charged car... i mean like i have to use my credit car just to buy the car then ontop of that i have to pay the 19.50% interests for the money use wow :(

joel w 06-24-2006 12:10 AM

Yikes. That's just silly in my opinion..

frostburn 06-24-2006 01:03 AM

yah well.... im 20 and have alot of demands in life lmao... yah... umm i suppose it is silly but i love speed... as i said once before... but umm really i just wanna sup it up and get more ladies... lol you must know how it is... happens with everyone... but ummm if u could post back on anything else that may go wrong with the 89 supra turbo and a fair price it would be great .. thanks i have a date and will check back in later, gnite all

Sorry but 19% is crazy, like flushing $115 every month down the crapper..

As for a list of what can go wrong with a 15+yr old car, the list is endless. I would save and buy with cash or a personal loan at say 6% interest max.

Look on this website for local cars if your area, maybe a fixer upper.

I agree that the price for the car is way out of reasonable range for a Stock turbo Sup'

I wouldnt pay more than 4....TOPS! and that would have to be one nice 89. a more reasonable price would be in the neighborhood of 2500-3500. I paid 2k for my N/A Targa

it all depends on how the car has been taken care of. by just looking at the car you can tell if you are goinna have some problems. if you see a lot that you dont like (as in problems)than dont buy it cuz there will always b something to fix. i know that my car isnt that hard to maintain except for minor things...i also know some supras that there is a ton wrong and everything needs fixed because it wasnt maintained.

go take a good lookthru and testdrive of the car and that will basically tell you how it was treated and if your gonna have problems

by the way that price is way too much for the car IMO (but if it is that much than it must be nice and take less money to maintain)

jfunez 06-25-2006 08:16 PM

that sounds like a lot of money man....

I know how it feels to have the need for speed, but you can acomplish the same with a $1500 nissan 240 or any other sportscar ,but spending that amount of money is just ridiculous to me......but then again, thats just my personal opinion..... maybe you should just reconsider your priorities.... but then again.......:dunno: i dunno nothin..!!!

frostburn 06-25-2006 08:19 PM

i suppose your right... but the car looks mint on the outside and under the hood, the seats need a lot of work... but all in all its a very well taken care of car, theres a site i know where i can buy a new engine for it also $800 well fairly new 20-35km on her... that a good price?

jfunez 06-25-2006 08:35 PM

hey frostburn... if you want the car..get it..

this way you wont have any regretts in the future.......no matter what everybody else says... buying a car is like falling in love with a girl, you will want her even if all your friends tell you she's a ho'....

...and then you will waste all your money on her, buying expensive trinkets and bobbles. But it wont matter anyways, you wont be man enough for her. And after she has taken what little self respect you had left, she will let you down and leave you a broken, useless wretch of a human being, too disheartened to even admit to your friends that they were right about her...

"Stupid....STUPID....Why didnt I listen to my friends!"

I dint wana make sound that harsh .......... but you hit the nail weezel....!!!:offwall:
