Insurance companies usually have their own people who look at cars to determine value. They are called adjusters and they compare the value of the car as is, to what the car could be worth. They guestimate this value from using Kelly's blue book as a guide...

Unfortunately our cars do not hold their value that well as compared to the newer mk4 supras, even in the best condition..
