Brake Discs

The braking on my '88 is getting slowly worse, having to push the pedal down further & harder, and its beginning to start squealing, which i guess is my baby's way of telling me that the discs/pads need changing.

I've just bid on a pair of brake discs on ebay (?12!!!) - but they're from the turbo - are there any differences between the N/A & Turbo models in regards to braking system? (I have ABS)

Also, the discs are used, less than 500 miles worth of use, and they look like Toyota direct replacement jobbies (all i want for the moment is as much safety as i can afford!).

Was going to use OEM or Bendix pads on them, but any recommendations for EBC greenstuffs? I bought an all round set for my Ford Sierra XR4x4 previously, but the engine on the car died about 100 miles after fitting the brakes, so never got a chance to test them :/

Cheers and TIA

I use Bendix for my supra and everything down at the shop.

Raybestos would be #2.

Rotors, from ebay????????????????? USED????????????????

Why????????????????????

You can get new OEM type from Carquest for about $50 ea. Pads $50 set.

I saw a whole OEM type set (rotors, front and back) on eBay for $80 +$15 shipping, brand new.

Well, they're cheaper than anyone else - and i've been quoted upto ?79 for EACH brake disc, and ?35 for the sets of pads - parts for the Supra in the UK arent very common - with most having to be specially ordered.

Still i thought that with less than 500 miles on them and the pads - they's fit to my car nicely for the ?12 i'm currently winning them for! :D

Try that.

Nice price, although slight disadvantage in the fact that i dont live in the US - cost of shipping alone would be insane :bouncy:

Don't skimp on your brakes.

What was the (quote) "reason" the guy was selling his "used" brake parts???

Wrecked car??? Why??? Didn't it stop for him???

I came up with this slogan many years ago, "Your car might run great, or it might run crappy....but if it don't stop....it won't matter how it runs" !!!

Brakes is one area that should have the best parts, and work "perfectly" !!

Here...I just came up with this slogan...

"Skimping on your brakes, and you might just be skimping on your life".

There is a joint in Long Beach, CA USA that makes drilled and slotted rotors that match to a T on our Supras, the machine each pair to order. I'm running front and rear drilled and slotted and EBC green stuffs on front and rear and Goodridge steel braided brake lines, this all AFTER rebuilding my calipers to perfect factory spec. Don't ever skimp on your brakes or steering. Car stops great on the greenstuff but I think the slots help a whole heck of a lot too, there is some additonal vvvvuuuhhhh noise now but I can also stop from 100mph to 0 in about 130 feet.

I was wondering if anyone has tried the 88rotors brake kits they sell on ebay...comes with 4 drilled/slotted rotors and PBR semi metallica pads which i have heard are good, Same with the green and yellowstuff pads. So anyone put these on a supra? Here is a link, they are on ebay all the time.
