New Member. New Car. only problem, it doesn't start :)

Hello guys,
I just purchased an 89 Supra Turbo a/t.
It will hopefully be a good car to learn on :) (I am a complete noob at the moment).

Now, here is the story - the car won't start.

The original motor has just been rebuilt and has only 600 miles on it. The owner said that the oil pump went out and screwed it up. He repaired it, replaced heads, oil pump, etc... but it stopped running at some point again.

According to him, the alternator went out (started charging at 16+) and took out the ECU (possible or not?), and the ECU is giving a number of codes. My friend just took the alternator to a shop and got a confirmation that its dead.

So, as it is, the car won't start. It cranks. EC light is on. The alternator is unhooked. The battery is at 11.75 and looks ok.

It started once. After unplugging the battery for 10+ mins. The prev. owner pointed out that the exhaust was rich. However, I was not able to get the car started since! :)

The good news is the body is in a good condition. The interior is OK.. just needs some minor adjustments.

There is no going back on the deal, of course, and I do understand the car was quite a gamble, but I need to start learning on something...

Thank you, all the info will be appreciated.

Best I got is good luck!!!

I guess you pick a point to start at and go from there. If the puter is throwing codes it should mean that it is ok but you need to look at the codes and see what you can fix one by one and see where that brings you.

Read the codes, figure 'em out and then go from there.

Also, check for spark and make sure it is getting fuel. Most likely an ignition issue.

Thanks guys.
I'll post the codes shortly.
I will need the most luck I can get.
