New Problem Help Asap!

allright my light for the rear of the car comes on everytime i hit the brakes... even the slightest bit, and my ebrake light comes on whenever i shift gears. I've also been loosing oil pressure, and burnin oil like no other. Its an 88 n/a with 169k miles. Yesterday a knock started to happen. Every time i push the accelerater it does it when im driving. At a stop light when i start to go, the knock happens between 2500 rpms and 3000rpms and it does it throughout every gear. i also have been putting in 87 octane? could that be the problem? the car also hasnt had a tune up in several years? i need help soon, cause i really dont want to blow the engine if its serious.

1. Probably a brake light out.

2. Check your brake master cylinder for the fluid level. Might have a leak somewhere.

3. Whats your oil pressure at idle and while moving?

4. Switch to a heavier weight oil

5. 87 octane isnt a problem. You should get a tune up if you want the engine to last a little longer.

6. If it has a knock, it'll be done in the next 6 months anyway. So start savin money for a new engine.

What he said. Plus get a manual for the car. Every car needs periodic care. You have to keep on top of the little things or they get big and very expensive. I have bought cars for very little because the owner thought the car was in bad shape when all it really needed was a tune up and shocks, or a fuse replaced.

This forum is great for advice, but you have to be willing to get your hands dirty and learn how to fix things. It is fun and then you will be able to help others as you become more confident of your skills.
