Toyota Supra "Super Computer" wiring

Anyone know how to wire in the Toyota Supra "Super Computer"? Its a clock replacement kind of thing that does gas mileage and date and a bunch of stuff, I need info on wiring it in; year restrictions? Wiring diagrams? Thanks guys!

i thought it was plug in play use the box it has and gets all the info from the sensors on the car

86-88 only, I believe they have the wiring and its a plug in play deal.

Dan the super monitor has the one i'm thinking about buying, i suppose if you wanted to beat me to the punch you could... they are awfully hard to find. I wanted to make sure I could install the thing before i bought it.

THREAD MERGE starting at this point - TONY!

ok with the super monitor i dont have it in my supra. what would i need to put it in . just the super monitor itself and it would work or would i need alot more pieces for hookup? and how easy is it to change out the gauge cluster. just a couple screws?

Burn N' Up 04-30-2006 05:29 AM

Next time search this topic, its been posted on already. But since you asked, up to 1988 they were direct "bolt-in" so to speak. 89+ it takes some modding. Cluster is easy to pull. Remove cneter bezel, remove cluster trim, 4 screws for the cluster and there it is. Just give it a tug to pull it free of the tach cable

sorry

sorry dude i will remember to search first next time. now direct bolt on what do you mean something goes in the engine bay and is fed into the cabin through the firewall or is i just a couple cords you connect?

if im not mistaken it has a harness and such as long as not 89+

Threat merge again at this point. - TONY!

Guys what is this super monitor that I keep hearing about? What does it do?
Thanks

Clock

Calender

Range: Predicts how many miles left you can drive based on a starting off with a full tank (also considers how much MPG you are going through for this figure).

Counts down how many miles left since last oil change if you reset it. Beeps if you haven't changed the oil by the scheduled interval when you open the door or was it when you first start it.

Calculates MPG since you last hit the reset button for that feature.

Checks engine and automatic tranny codes/problems

If anyone wonder what it looks like, here are some pictures:

I have read that the '87-'88 are wired for it, and that the '89-'92 need some wiring for it to work. Seems as if there is some disagreement on the pertentage of pre pre 89 that are wired for it. Some say that the pre 89 are wired for it, some say that not all the pre 89 cars are wired for it.

merryprankster 06-23-2007 03:47 AM

so where do you get them?
i saw some on ebay but there for 7mgte and im n/a. would it still work?

ethan12510 06-23-2007 10:31 PM

will it work?

can i get one in my 89?

lazyass_9 11-24-2009 10:13 PM

I was wondering if anyone knows that if the Super Monitors that are installed in the Canadian versions of the supras still show MPG or if they change l/100 kms because this would also change the range to km's instead of miles. Or is this just something that the computer in the car would automatically change. Thank You

i just found one when i was getting the clutch and brake pedal and i just took it the guy is gonna scrap the car anyway lol i wish i would have grabbed the whole wiring harness dur da dur oh well i might go back before then?

cre 08-06-2010 03:56 AM

Not all pre89 MKIII come wired for the SuperMonitor either. My '88 N/A was one which was not. With a pre89 TEWD you can wire it up but it's not fun by any means.

Also, just to answer an old question which wasn't previously answered: There are different control units for MPH vs KPH and for GTE vs GE.

honda_killer 08-06-2010 08:04 PM

well im gonna go back and get the whole harness guy is giving me stuff off of it for cheap!! just gonna grab a bunch of the crap off of it make him a deal
