Nasty Sounding Exhaust

Anyone else here have an Apexi World Sport 2? I just put one on my Automatic 87 NA and when I accelerate from a dead stop the exhaust has a deep roar, but as soon as my car gets to 2500-3000 rpms it sounds like metal rattling! As soon as my car is going past 20mph the exhaust is very quiet. It only happens during acceleration. But after I've driven for a while and my engine and exhaust piping is all warmed up...there's no rattling during acceleration. I don't get it??? Any advice would be helpful.

Possibly the catalytic converter?

I had a new cat put on a year and a half ago...and before I put on the new exhaust I never heard it sound like this...if it is the cat. I remember the sound when my old cat went bad...and it's very similar. I'll take it to the muffler shop soon and get it checked out.

Also, make sure the bolts are torqued down. After heating and cooling the first few times on a new exhaust things tend to loosen up.

Oh but unfortunately my whole entire exhaust system has been chopped the shop up. So I no longer have any bolting brackets on the piping anywhere after the downpipe. Welding is my only option after that. Muffler shop tomorrow...see what the problem is.

my exhaust does the same thing when it is cold. but after it warms up it goes away. i did notice however when i had the pacesetter header put on it took the crackling noise almost completely away.

Oh really? Alright I know what to invest in next. Thanks it really helps to know I'm not the only one who had that exhaust noise.
