Oil Pressure Gauge

Ok for the longest time my oil pressure gauge in the car hasn't been working. I thought changing the sensor that screws into the engine would fix that problem...still nothing. Is there a fuse that I should look for...or is the gauge itself defected? I believe the car has 190,000 miles on it. Anyone else have this problem?

My oil pressure gauge hasnt worked since I owned it.. I havent looked into it though, and I do have some leaking valve covers, dont know if that would have anything to do with it though..

Either the guage or the wire going to it, or no oil...lol. You could have someone sit in the car with the key on and short the wire for a few seconds against the block and see if the guage moves any, if not then it could be the wire but more than likely it is the guage. You could get a mechanical guage and try it out to make sure there is pressure at that source too.

Mine have always worked, but not equally. I don't think there is a fuse for the guage itself. You might have to take the instrument cluster out and make sure there is nothing wrong with the contacts for the guage or get out the manual and look at the wiring diagram.

As far as the leaking valve covers, that will not cause the guage to stop working unless you run out of oil!

Same here

Mine hasn't worked for over 3 years. Ive tried the sender, different dash from a wrecking yard, different guages from wrecking yards, read continuity from the wire to the dash and no joy. My last resort was getting a new guage from the dealer which they didn't stock and couldn't order from japan cause they don't make it anymore and they don't have any spares in all the dealers in the gulf. Ill try the dealers in the USA when I go back on vacation.

Oil prssure gauge

I had the same problem. It is the gauge itself. There are a couple of components to it (a spring and a brace) and one of the pieces simply breaks off. You can get one from a used instrument cluster (that's what I did) as it is only slightly more than the gauge itself, plus leaves you with additional parts if needed.I have one laying around (damaged) if you need pics to see what is broken.

OOOO yes pics would be very helpful! I got a friend who runs a toyota junkyard with a good amount of mk3s lying around. Seeing what problem you had will help me a lot in identifying my problem...as for electrial wiring diagrams...sorry my mind is more mechanical. I've always had trouble with electrical stuff in the past.
