New to forum (question: ECT Power button?)

Hey I'm new to the forum. I just bought my Supra 89 turbo few days ago. It has a button that says ECT Power. Whats the use of this button for?

electronic controlled transmission... that's what it stands for, and that's all i know about it. i have a manual gearbox. maybe it has something to do with the lock-up converter. :dunno: but do you know there is some kind of conversion kit that you can swap it to a TH400 & TH350.

Any one know what this button does?

It modifies your shift points for a more "Sportier" setup. I don't really know how much of a diff. it actually makes. When my car had an Auto trans...I just ran w/ it in Sport mode all the time.

It raises your shift points by a couple hundred RPMs, letting you get a little more power before the next upshift.

^^^^like he said, about 400rpm by my testing. I just leave mine in sport. If I want to go easy, I just don't push the gas pedal so hard.

It also (big difference) will kick down a gear quicker in sport. Very much a drag when in 'normal', and you want to get around someone without flooring the pedal.
