VSV is fine. I was looking at the engine today, and saw some wires with cracked insulation or most of it missing around the wires. So I am going to fix those up by protecting them from the heat. I was told by another person that if some wires get heated up from the heatsoak, they cant function properly.
I also did what you suggested mrnickleye, and bought some fuel injector cleaner. Couldnt get the TECHRON stuff anywhere. Went to 2 Chevron gas stations and they dont even carry their own brand of fuel injector cleaner lol...strange. |

Maybe its a Canada thing. Perhaps they haven't approved Techron to be sold there.
Still sounds like a weird problem, and 88supraboy having it too.

I noticed something else as well. I dont know if it is directly related to this problem, but maybe. When I restart the car after it is hot, I noticed that my voltage gauge is pretty low. Low as in almost 12, when it should be higher. I am running an almost new battery, new 110amp alternator and a capacitor for my system so i dont kill my battery. I checked connections and everything.
I changed my battery and alternator a while ago thinking it would solve this problem, but it didnt. |

For that I suggest dropping by a repair shop to have your charging system checked. Usually they will throw the quick clamp-on tester for free. You just want to know if it is putting out 13.8v, and what the max amps are.
It will only take them 2 minutes. Then report back to us, (sargent ![]() ![]()

Ok, so I took it to the same place that I got my alternator from. They test charging systems and the alternator output. He tested everything with max load on it, and my battery and alternator are still putting out a lot of amperage. So they charging system is not the problem here. I asked him what it could be, and I mentioned that when I have the hot restart, the volts seem low. He told me it cant be the battery and alt. because they read above normal. He said that it does that because the engine is struggling to stay on, and so the alternator isnt cranking enough to show a good reading. Which makes sense to me.
I went out and bought some insulation tape that holds temps up to 1500 deg. I put some on exposed wires that I thought might be overheating. But I dont think that solved the problem at all..... He mentioned it could be a problem with my MAF, a sensor in it is overheating or it just might be bad. Could that be the problem? Or could it be a starter problem? Something HAS to be overheating for it to do this on hot restarts.... Anyone have any other ideas?? I need help lol......... ![]() |
