1jz or 7mgte

what motor should i put in my car and about how much will each one cost?

7m, 2500-3000, make sure you inspect the bottom end and put a metal head gasket on there with arp studs or bolts.

1jz, 3000-5000.

These are estimates. Prices will vary depending on how much you can do yourself.

I say stick with the 7m, as long as you keep oil in it and put the metal hg in you'll have a damn near bulletproof engine. 1jz is a good engine too, but I like the bottem end torque of the 7m. You win either way, its a matter of preference.

7m you can pass inspection and get it licensed no problem, not sure how strict they are in your area...

Don't let people tell you the 7m is crap, do it right and it'll take it just as hard as the 1jz

the 7m will be the easier road, more common parts, etc. the 1jz is the road less traveled, probs that come with swaps, harder to find parts, etc. correct if wrong, i think they put out close to the same power

either engine will do, like kwnate said, its of preference.

i think i am probably go with the 7m, i think i should wait at least till my engine gets near to death. it has 143,000 miles, how hard is it to put a 7mgte in, and what else will i need to add to the car for it to be compatable

Check out 4cefed.com and click on NA->T Turbo Conversion info. That'll tell you pretty much everything you need. As for information on how to put it in, search. I'm doing the same thing soon and I just searched through 142 pages looking for things I may have overlooked. Good luck with it. And save as much money as possible. So you may have to rely on your current engine for a little longer. It's always better to have more money than what you would normally shoot for. Start researching prices of the engine for the best deals. A lot of places are running out of them now. Start joining a few other forums as well and ask around.
