Spoiler Suggestions? (look at last page plz)
I have a 1991 N/A supra...it has no spoiler on it and was wondering if any other supra owners have aftermarket spoilers that look good on theirs. if you do let me know -maybe e-mail me with a pic after u post a comment? i am not interested in those HUGE wings.
cardomain: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2187020] thanks look at the bottom of the last page please. |
I would suggest an 89+ 3 piece spoiler. People sell em all the time, check the for sale ads. In my opinion it is the best wing for our car. It flows with the body. Aftermarket won't look good. Thats just my opinion of course. I have the 3 peice, see below if you didn't know.

burton51m,
You really can't beat what the designers came up with. They designed the perfect spoiler for the MKIII. Any step away from what they did, is a step away from perfection in my opinion. Checked out your site--you have a really clean and classy looking car. If I were you, I would not change a thing other than to get a MKIII '89-92 spoiler for it. That and lose the sleepy eye deal (if I may say)...if you have not already. All this car needs, IMO, is a stock 3pc wing: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...020_2_full.jpg |
i like this wing better
i have a 1988 supra and i think that the wing on mine looks better thatn the 3 peice one on the 89 one like all these guys are saying i ust like the more simple look of mine you can get pictures of a wing like mine at the website called cardomain .com my car is not on there yet but hopefully this summer when i get my job i can get it looing sharp enough to post it on there
p.s. you have a really nice car there it is awesome looking |
They sell one for the supra on jcwhitney.com for under $200. It looks just like factory. Single piece like my 89na came with.

It is always a matter of taste. Look around and see what catchesyour eye. The CD for the stock Supra with the spoiler was .01 better than without but it does look better to a lot of people. Watch Fast and the Furious again and see what looks good. Just make sure it doesn't leak and doesn't fall off! I saw one made of 2x4's, yup wood, it was cheap and I guess the guy thought it looked good, but not anyone else unless he WAS going for the laugh.

When I look at it, I feel like I want to sit down...probably because it looks like part of a picnic table.

. . .and what would you do with the antenna? i have one with a motor in it would i just take it off and put it on top of the new wing? (of course in the slot pre-made in the spoiler..)
|
I used to paint helmets and bikes for people and it is still hard for me to give you an estimate on painting it.
Depends on the condition of the part. Most times aftermarket parts have imperfect panels (from what I have seen). Depends on the color (paint colors range in price). Depends on who does it. If it is ready for primer, it would be about $130 for me to prime it, paint it, and then clear it and that is with them buying the materials. But I quit painting for people because too many in this area want everything to be show quality, while wanting to pay what averages out to be $5 an hour. Anyways, I only have patience for my own stuff that I need painted...actually, I don't have enough for my own stuff. I wish I could just buy patience...like patience pills. heheh As far as the antenna, I would consider getting my Dremel out for that. But you better make sure you can align the hole "on the money" but I don't think that would be too hard... Just make a small hole in the spoiler piece over the center of the hole in the car body. Then as you see where you need to Dremel more with the spoiler piece over the car body, Dremel it out until the wing hole is as exact as the hole below it....or matching it to the diameter of the antenna. Got to always be creative when you do bodywork or custom painting. Most of the time is spent on the boring stuff though like sanding. |
you could always get one of those hidden antennas, but im not sure of the quality of those. they normally run for about 30bucks. i dont think it hook up right the factory wiring but it wouldnt be that hard to do it.
