Default Timing questions........

OK the crank timing should be at what 0-5-10-15? and the cams should be lined up with the notches? then the distributer timing should be dead on or should it be 10 deg. off? whats correct?

Installing a timing belt? , the lower crank gear should be at zero, same with the harmonic ballencer, and yes the cams should be strait at the notches. Put all the slack to the tensioner side...

im just letting you know that there have been people that have recently found that there ballencers had slipped or they were not at zero any longer. just something to double check. then once cps is installed and jumper installed, timing should be set to 10 degrees,

if you cant do this, then the dist needs to be repositioned...or just to add to the confusion for your info.. ive had a tps that was misadjusted , It would not let me set the timing to 10Deg untill i adjusted it first no matter what i did with the cps on my gte anyways.. not sure about ge's..

Make sure your engine is at operating temperature when you set it too. Have fun.
