Couple of questions
 

I have the oppertunity to purchase an 87 turbo supra from a friend. It has around 175k miles. The body is in decent shape with no real extensive body damage. It has all the options, and it has the removeable roof. So anyway it doesnt accelerate very fast. When you rev it it takes awhile to go up. The boost gauge doesnt even move. He thinks it might be the head gasket, but any input would help from you guys. Its fairly cheap at 500 bucks, but i dont want to get in over my head here with a blown engine. A head gasket is fine by me.

take it for a test drive away from ur friend.. pull over... check all intercooler pipes and do a diagnostic... find the problem
if it is a boost leak... fix it... test drive it, if it's sweet.. pull over.. unfix it... take it back... buy it LOL

also check the ignition timing

but do a block check and compression test just to see the engines health :)

Hell that is a great price for a turboed supra. Parting it out alone could net you a few G's.

I like supra girl's idea... you may get away with a real bargain.

When you rev it in nuetral the boost gauge will not register. There must be a load on the engine to boost. $500 is hella cheap for a running turbo.

He thinks its a head gasket, because the same thing happened awhile ago, and he re built the head thinking that was it. It doesnt leak oil, or coolant. But it does require coolant every so often. My guess is a head gasket. Any opinions on what parts to get ?? I can get good deals through my toyota dealer buddy

Gradual coolant loss... Sounds like a HG to me. #6 cyl is usually the culprit.
Toyota HG, ARP head bolts torqued at 75 lbs. ft., machine the head.
THese other guys know turbo's, there may be more than just a HG.
