Removing Tailight Lens

Anyone ever remove a tailight lens? My 1990 Supra has some kind of green mold inside-just under the outer lens. I can't see how to remove the lens.

Hrm...

Lens? What is that? The tail lights themselves? I removed them all and swapped them this last sunday, pretty easy, just take out every bolt you see in there =P First remove the plastics, then the lights... Easy =)

Removing the light bulbs is very easy. But after removing the plastic panel that holds the bulbs and little reflectors, how do I remove the big red lens itself? I found 3 small screws and removed them, but couldn't move the lens at all. Guess I'll use a mirror to see if there are any more screws in there. Sure wish Toyota had simply used a few screws from the OUTSIDE to hold the lens on.

i don't believe the red lense actually comes away from the black frame

reason for mould etc getting in there is because you'll notice that the lens is separating from the black frame... mask up the red lens but leave bout 5mm and line the top with silicon so that water no longer gets in there

I just started to mess with my tails and to get them out there is three nuts under the tail light and above it, on the inside. The top ones are in little holes. If you happend to do this already let me know if you got the outer red lens off! I know on most head lights and tail lights you have to put them in an oven to heat them up so you can peal the lens away from the case. Id like to find a better way.

give it 20 or 30 years from production date and the red lense will come off all by itself lol

i think he's just gonna have to try cotton buds or something

Well, my car is at 18 years and I'm having the same problem. The red lense part is starting to come away from the black bracket. Buuuuut, It will probably be a parts car soon anyway. Transmission is bad and I'm pretty sure engine compression is down because im doing 0-60 in 12.25 seconds. Not sure if that time is normal, but it seems pretty slow to me. But back to the lense problem. I guess I would solve this by putting clear drying silicon into it just so no water gets into there.
