Anyone who had their engine decked, Please help!

When you had your block decked did you have the front engine housing decked too? I mean the aluminum part that is on the front of the engine that Has the Timing belt in it... If not I realized that the head gasket seals it too and now it is a tad higher than the rest of the block...

It needs to be shaved as well, otherwise the head won't sit flush and your headgasket won't seal properly. Chevelles and supras!! I have a 70 that I'm doing a frame off on :)

Sweet is it an SS? Mines a Numbers Matching SS 396 with the 400 tranny and im doing a Frame off as well...

Ive already got the bell housing sealing on and the pistons installed and I do not want to have to pull it all apart agian.. Think I can get it shaved with all of them installed?

The front cover can come off, maybe have your machinest measure it while its on the block, take it off and shave it down. I don't think its critical to have it perfect as long as it isn't high. But as close to perfect as possible.

My chevelle isn't numbers matching or a SS but I'm building a Pro touring car with most likely a supercharged or turboed LS1. I have a painted chassis with all hotchkis suspension, tall spindles in front with 13" baer brakes up front with a moser 3.42 posi in the rear with 12" baers. It's going to be sweet! But thats on the back burner for the supra build :)

I used a file and filed it down to pretty even with the block, I used a straight edge and it was just a tad lower than the engine block so I used some silicon sealant on it and I think itll be alright. Have you used the ARP studs? If so how did you tighten the nuts I cant get a socket in there very easily.

Id love to have an LS1-2-7 in anything as long as it is a 6 speed. We used to have a 1998 Firebird Formula I so wish we wouldnt have sold it but then i wouldnt have gotten the chevelle....
