Yes you can drop a 2jz into a 88 sup. You need the cross member from a JZA70 sup and the motor and box out of the JZA80. It is very expensive if you wanted to do that though. You would be better off doing a 1JZ conversion. Much cheaper and everything bolts over. :D

ozsupra 09-23-2004 03:52 AM

haha ok well i gather no-one is going to do either for me for free at the moment so well i guess if i ever do anything ill have to wait lol

suprra_girl 09-23-2004 11:53 AM

i wouldn't put the box with it... you have to bash out the tunnel to fit it lol... just use the 5sp that goes behind either the 1jzgte or 7mgte and get an adaptor made for the bellhousing :)

so when ur cars break where do you send them...
everyone here sends them to us lol

ozsupra 09-24-2004 12:16 PM

haha next question.............who wants to give me the money to modify me car?

Umm actually you would be crazy to use anything other than the V160 or V161 (the 6 speed box) behind a 2JZGTE. Either that or keep on paying 800 dollars everytime you break the R154.

suprra_girl 09-27-2004 09:23 AM

lmao
dude... the r154 isn't a w58 lol

a friend of mine Graham that owns the croydon mkiv supra races all the time and does 10's down the quarter

and if you do your research you will find a R154 box behind it
and plus they'll handle sweet as on a standard 2j and a modded one... as evident by grahams supra ;)

Ahhh...actually only the 1jz and 7MGTE came out with a R154 behind them. The only W58 in a MkIV Supra was behind the 2JZ-GE(non-turbo) and trust me, the 2JZGTE that you mate is racing will have the six speed behind it..which is the V160 or V161 that i metioned.

suprra_girl 09-29-2004 07:54 AM

1 actually i kinda knew that... hence why in one of my orig posts i mentioned getting the 5sp from the 7mgte and 1jzgte :P
2 yes i know the w58 is only behind the 2j missin hair dryers lol (and 1ggte, not always some have w57's)
3 you are wrong... it is an R154
trust me i kinda think i know grahams car

or is this coz i'm a girl u keep on a arguin lol :P

would you like me to email him and get him to write his mods :P

MA70-1JZ 10-09-2004 04:00 AM

if you can email him that would be great

suprra_girl 10-25-2004 10:17 AM

well i spoke to graham on sunday and he told me to give you his cell number LOL
i thought i'd be nicer and just post up his page for ya ;)

http://www.croydons.co.nz/the5thdimension/...on.asp?pageid=4

you'll notice the R154 in there :P hehe

Guest 11-01-2004 09:56 AM

cheers i was trying to find that web page..still seems strange that you would use a R154 tho

suprra_girl 11-01-2004 11:19 AM

lol not logged in again :P

yea i'm not quite sure why he's not using the v series but at least the r154 is proven to some decent horsepower so for those that can't quite afford the getrags they can go for the r154 and still not worry bout breakin it till quite high hp ;)

MA70-1JZ 11-02-2004 01:16 AM

after reading the article on his car i believe that it came down to simple cost vs. performance. The R154 would have been a shit load cheaper and still been able to support the 350kw that the car was making...besides that it is not HP that kills components its Torque..so I am sure that the R154 will live ok for a while yet...getrag are still an expensive thing to buy..i have yet to see them fall under the 3000 dollar mark, while a good R154 can be picked up for 1200..so yeah save a bit of dosh there

87t-Ma70 12-17-2004 07:13 AM

i say a 2jz-gte in a 88 supra would be nicer than a 1jz-gte. and there is no need to bash in the firwall or the shock towers to make it fit. plus where im from in California the 1jz-gte would be a problem to be legally smog. and the 2jz-gte would be carb approved and smog legal. but then just costing as much as buying a mk4 tt. secret to have a 2jz-gte twin turbo wid the 6spd tranny: move everything up about 2inches by making custom motor mounts n tranny mounts n everything will fall in place beautifully. here's sumthin to see for yourself.
