will this work
I have a 1989 supra turbo, dont have enough money for a cat back exhaust. Was wondering if i went to a autozone, and build a 3" exhaust will it work? and will it give me more power?
stock turbos love 3" pipe...more flow is always better w/ turbos..
Really all an exhaust system is is bent pipe.Yeah there is research you have to do to make an great exhaust like for professional GT cars but in your case for a homemade horsepower gain just make sure they dont kink your pipes.Mandrel bending is the best by far.It will work fine.Take good measurements.Good luck.
you can coustom bend piping straight to the flange on the turbo elbow...thats what i did..but i don't use cats, its like a homemade down pipe to a nice straight through exhaust..that=20hp easy
when i get an engine thats gonna be the first thing i do, 3" from turbo back with a high flow muffler to keep the sound down a lil
3inch back
3in back gives u nothin but a growl everyone around u gives u alittle looksee i have a cooleeze downpipe and a full 3in back to a nice magnaflow and she sounds hot and loud when u hit deep boost, but i m putting a monster new turbo with a stompin new header so i will have to make a new downpipe so i can just imagine her new deep growl can t wait i ll let u know how loud she s going to be

thats cool...I was stupid when I did my exaust..i dont know why i went 2.5 inch turbo back ...it seems ok for now but when the power is increased im going to have to rip it out of there and put in 3 inch..but I deffently want to mention, if your going to do a turbo back exhaust setup try and get a new elbow, from supragirl or a place like this

ok thanx everyone
i did same thing as you skunk , I used 2.5 in mandrels and redid the whole exh,,, just to rip it all out and replace it with 3" month later.. i agree, either use the 3" 90 or get the downpipe that doesnt need the 90 ell anymore..
would it be possible to have a downpipe bent at the top for an elbow with a flange welded on or would it make it too difficult to install stuff
yes, BIC and Titan downpipes both dont use the 90 ell im sure there are others that no longer need the 90 ell aswell....
here is mine. its from titan motorsports.. http://www.toyota-supra.info/forums/...ttachmentid=52 http://www.toyota-supra.info/forums/...ttachmentid=53 |

mine was in when i bought the car
but his are probably around 2 bills but worth every peny like i said before there arn t any out there that have a 3.5 inch outlet from turbo then turns into 3in downpipe awsome flow from mine never had any type of temp problems but i have to change it now so i called him since we are local to eachother he said he would come out to my shop and build me a custom one so him and i will keep a template so if anybody buys the header off ebay and puts a aftermarket turbo on in there is a downpipe out there for them to buy with no r and d time just buy and bolt on
sooo what do you think go with 3 inch elbow or 3 dp with the bend to eliminate the elbow..this is probably a no brainer, also have you guys seen the divorced downpipe

don t buy bic
buy cooleeze way more versitile his product is way superiour to bic
id be willing to guess they all work equally well with or without the 3" 90 ell..
especially with a stock ct-26 i paid $220 plus shipping for mine with a full SS 3" flex connector! cheapest i found anywhere. I like the quality so far as well, awsome tig welds.. but havent laid hands on the others.. |
I was running a BIC divorced downpipe, test pipe and 4" Exhaust. It was loud and fast!! Don't waste your money at autozone. Just save til you can afford something else.
