all depends how perfect you want it. but for nice paint ive been stuying painting latly, for a base coat/clear coat usually
2 coats primer,
4 coats color
4 coats clear???

ive heard to start w/ 400 wet at first, then goto a 600 wet, shoot primer and use 600 wet if needed in between primer coats if there is flaws or runs?.
then shoot color and sand with 600 wet in between each coat if there are any flaws, runs , bugs, clear wont hide any flaws, so color should be flawless before any clear goes on... clear coat just brings them out.. Then spray clear, again sanding any flaws . runs, bugs. w/ 600 wet.. once clear is done sand with 1200 wet and buff.. wha la..

if this is incorrect please say so... i want to know also..
