Coil Spring Color Code
Pulled out the front shocks and didn't make note of which coil spring was left and which was right. One has 1 pink and 2 blue bands and the other has 1 pink and 2 yellow. Anyone know which is left and which is right?
Thanks. |
I found this on YouTube. It appears that the yellow bands are on the driver side. If you fast-forward to 5:24 you will see. I have a spare pair of front springs and they appear to be identical in twist where they start and stop. I don't know why Toyota has 2 part numbers when they look to be the same. The OEM springs I now have on my car are re-painted black, so I couldn't reference them.

Thank you very much. That's what I thought but wasn't sure.
I did notice that he did not tighten the upper control arm bolt properly. You're supposed to bounce the suspension with the bolt loose, then tighten it with vehicle weight applied. |
That's correct, the bushings provide rebound in both directions once they are locked down in the neutral position with the car's weight on the suspension. This doesn't apply to me, because I have energy suspension urethane bushings now. They slide on the spacer, so I guess I've lost that bit of rebound. Energy suspension bushings also transmit more road noise. I went with a very quiet set of Toyo versado noir tires to minimize this. Unfortunately, they are discontinued now.
