I had a similar issue after doing an engine swap in my '86.5. Played with the security, attempting locking/unlocking of doors/hatch. No joy. Attempted to check/adjust the Neutral Safety Switch. No joy.
Finally just installed a push button start. I have found that it helps in cold weather to run the key/ignition all the way to the Start. Of course it won't start but apparently there are electronics (cold start maybe) that need to be activated. After turning to Start the key goes back to On and I hit the starter button. No issues. Maybe some day I'll go back and troubleshoot the NSS or security system (I did remove the security module from under the dash). |
