ct-26 questions

im looking to rebuild my old ct since its way past its effiecent life cycle. i have heard good things about driftmotion and im woundering if any one here has bought there upgrades ct-26 so i could get there opinion. they have from a facotry rebuild to a 60 trim upgrade. my goal for this supra is roughly 500 hp and equal or more torque, for the time being i cant buy a new garret ball bearing cermaic turbo since its upwards of 1500$ and an upgraded ct 26 is about 600$. drift motion claims the 57 trim wll do 450hp whith moderat boost and apropriate fuel and support sytems upgrades.

my goal is 500hp but as an auto cross and street machine vehicle( i want a fun to drive and quick spooling car) i know that is a hard combo to ask for but im only needing to push 166hp per liter to reach my goal which still has good responce. would the upgraded ct-26 whith the 57 trim have equal or less lag than factory? i think so since its new and has better garret internals. heres the link, any input would be welcome

Hi1 , I have no idea about the upgraded turbo , but I found this link for a standard spool cartridge on ebay , sent from Hong Kong , cheap but useable to experiment with?

yes that seems cheap but im going to build a fast and reliable motor and thus cannot be cheap.if im going to spend the money on a rebuild for a little more i might as well upgrade.the way i figure it is a 57 trim ct-26 will spool faster than my factory 145k mile unit and can reach my goals so instead of just rebuilding and holding facotry potental i can keep factory power for the moment and have room to grow in the power department.i know around 200hp per liter you will start to trade power for responce and like i said earlier i want a very responsive motor. now wheni have more project money i owuld like to buy a brand new modern turbo, specificly a dual ball bearing, twin scroll, billit garret:D

If it was me I'd get an aftermarket CT26 like the one I in fact did buy for ?215 ($350 ish?) just to get you running (and don't forget the stock CT26 can about double the boost to 12psi approx. anyhow)

Then you could spend the money you would have spent on the modded CT26 on stuff like upgraded injectors/fuel pump/FPR/MAP sensor etc and get all that stuff running reliably together before taking the jump to a bigger turbo, which by then should just slot in with the rest of the kit able to handle over 12psi
