The only difference is the intake cam and the valve shim spacing specifications. Swap the intake can and correct the valve shim clearances and it's now a GTE head.

Did not know about the valve shim clearances being different; is that just because of the different cam?

I could be wrong about there being a difference in the spec, it's been a long time since I've rebuilt a 7M much less owned one. Could be something from a different engine or from one of the engine builders I know. At any rate as old as these are you should check the clearances any way about it.
