Uh oh brake!!!
Hey guys, so I've been looking at my brakes and stuff and they are old and rusty with about 40% left. So I was wondering can I do it myself? I'm not a big car guy on maintainence and parts so what do I need ? Can I do it myself? What brake calipers are good for our supra? Brembos?stoptech? Or Etc? And for those calipers do i need only rear wheels or all 4? Opinions please !!! And which website can I get the stuff at !? Thanks I live in CA!!!

Do your calipers need to be replaced? Or you just want to? A brake job normally consists of pads, rotors and bleeding the brakes. I’m not very current with mkIII's so some others can chime in one which parts to get. It is a job that one could do themselves. Bleeding the brakes will require an assistant. If you are questioning it, I would probably just have someone do it or at least have someone that has worked on brakes helping you. You don’t want something to go wrong after the work is done.

Personally, I'd go with a well known brand when replacing the rotors: Toyota or Brembo would be my first suggestion. I wouldn't replace the calipers unless they're completely trashed... Usually the most you'll need to do it rebuild them (kits are available from most auto stores such as NAPA or you can get the parts from Toyota). You can bleed the system by yourself if you get a vacuum bleeding kit. |
