Steering Noises

The other morning, I started up my car and it seemed fine. But then when I would go to turn the wheel to turn a corner or whatever, it seems like something to do with the steering is rubbing or something. It makes a weird noise when I turn the car either direction. This only happens when the car is cold. After a while, it goes away. But I never had this problem before. Sounds like it is rubbing, and I can feel some vibration underneath where when my feet are on the pedals.

Probably the power steering rack. Not difficult to replace. Cost approx. $200 for reman.

i was thinking the steering rack also...i had that problem...but check the belt and pulleys first..since mine were ok...i found that one of my joints was ripped...so i bought an aluminum one for about $225...its kind of a bitch to install though...but its do-able...would take you about 2.5 hrs if you know wut ur doing..a little longer but anyone can figure it out...must make sure you change the power steering fluid..and all the lines are tight...drain teh fluid...keep the cap open...start the car and turn the steering wheel all the way to one side then teh other...do it like 4 or 5 times... so the fluid gets back into the lines and you should be ok....i was an idiot...i dint check my lines i poured a bottle and it came out the bottom...and i was wondering why the steering still sucked...one of my lines wasnt tight...leaking like crazy

I was just going to suggest checking your fluid, but you probably already did. Sometimes the bolts holding the rack in just fall out for some mysterious reason. Check the other stuff peole have mentioned and let us know.

If you do the rack, get new line/fitting... gasket/washers from the dealer (3-4$) !!!!!!!

Check for fluid leaks 1st

Overnight try putting a clean piece of paper under the passenger side near boot and check it in the morning... if you find power steering fluid, it'll be the rack 9 times out of 10.
