Default How to tell the difference between cams

I am rebuilding a 7M-GTE. When i removed the cams, there was a large amount of scoring on the cams and bearing journals. I found a remanufactured head with cams for $400. I purchased it and am not sure if the cams that are in it are from the GE or the GTE. Does anyone know how to tell the difference between them? What the duration specs are and a easy way to measure it? Are there any markings on the cams to look for? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

The exhaust cam is the same for both the GE and the GTE. Off hand I can't tell you of any quick and easy way to identify the intake cam. Someone over at Supramania.com profiled the stock 7M-GTE some time ago, might try searching for the thread over there.

if the intake cam is different, then the tsrm might have numbers to inspect sizes.

EDIT: and by "might" i mean all the sizes are in the link i shared. LOL

I've looked those over before but it's not too helpful... You may just have a cam which is worn beyond spec and simply requires a thicker shim. So it could look like a GE cam but just be a worn down GTE cam which you could still use with some Yamaha shims.
