7mgte hesitation *videos* help me

so this started as a cel 52 i rewired it with new rg58 wire and it fixed the cel. the problem was this hesitation. as soon as the hiccup would happen the cel 52 would come on so i thought it was a knock sensor problem.
now there is and are no cel codes showing or stored.
but between 1800-2800 there is a hesitation that as you can see in the videos it just falls on its face like a car running out of gas.
i just replaced the TPS with a new one and set it to spec. and it still has it the same as before. it is driving me nucking futts, i can open the throttle and it will fall on its face and not accelerating. but if let off and gas it again it sometimes will blow right through the hiccup range.
i can feather and rev it over the 2800 rpm it runs strong and no problems are evident. like in one of the videos.
-i do not have any intake leaks that i found by pressuring the IM from the first turbo coupler to the head.
-i have the oe fuel dampener on the fuel rail.
-the injectors are firing in a constant sequence when it is choking (listening through a stethoscope)
-timing is set to 10 deg btdc

Have you checked the fuel pressure?

ccguy 06-23-2012 06:02 PM

i dont think it is fuel pressure. the plugs are dry sooty, and the fuel is going fast.
i changed the cps and same things. no boost leaks, i tested using the smoke trick and the soapy water while pressurizing the manifold.
i am starting to really lean to the afm or the wiring to the ecu from the tps??????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????

Well, you can test the AFM to a degree as detailed in the TSRM. As for the TPS you should. Test the voltage at the VTA pin at the ECU. You should see around.5v up to about 4.8v as it the throttle is open and closed. It might be 3.8v on the high side, I can't recall at the moment.

Are you certain you don't have a knock?

ccguy 06-24-2012 02:48 AM

i dont think i do? i cant hear one. but i would hate to think i might have one. i just rebuilt the motor.
the motor was left in the supra with the hood open and half taken apart when i bought it from the guy. i have fought wasp pupas in the vacuum lines and a mess of other things so it makes me question all of the electronics in the engine bay. since the original tps that came with the motor was bad...

even if it was knocking it would not explain the cracked throttle and accelerating.

I didn't have a chance to really look this over before. A couple things I'd look at are the fuel pump relay and resistor pack, try an alternate ECU, try an alternate AFM. Is the fuel pressure up VSV connected, functional and properly routed?

I didn't recognize a wideband in you gauge set there. If you have access to one log it or at least make a video so we can see what's going on when it bogs.

Did you test the TPS signal at the ECU as I mentioned? What about the AFM (honestly I'd just try to borrow a known good one as I don't expect you have the equipment and documentation to test it copletely).

bad wiring from the tps to the ecu. ran new wires from the tps to the afm/eng temp sensor and ecu. fixed the problem

Excellent. I'm glad you got it sorted out. Thanks for posting back with the final results.
