Need tips on Swap!?
 

Wsup guys, so I'm going to be swapping my supra's 7mgte with another 7mgte in a week or so. So I just wanted a heads up if there would be anything I should look out for. For example, would there be anything I would need to transfer from my old engine to the new one? Or would I have to get any additional things components? I'm new to this so I just want to make sure that I get it done right,

And all your emmisions components. Are you getting a JDM engine?

if he is getting a jdm. could you swap over the us egr? does the jdm have the cooler in the back and the ports for the pipe? or would you just swap over your usdm intake plenum?

Oh yeah sorry i didn`t include that, but yeah its a JDM engine. And i do remember somewhere saying that you will need to transfer over the Crank Sensor/EGR/CAS.

JDM engines have all the ports for EGR, you just have to remove the block off plates and swap your parts over (including the cooler). The easiest way I can think of to make sure you do everything right is to pull the engine, put the 2 engines side by side, and swap over everything that's different. Depending on year, you may have to swap oil pans and oil pump pickup tube/screen. Since you have a Cali car, you will have more emissions components and electronics. Be sure you get them all so you can pass that wonderful smog test

since your going to take the engine out it would be best to give the engine bay a good cleaning to get the dust and grime out.

Also, its probably best to change (or at least check) the alternator and starter on the new engine. More than likely it is or it will fail given its age.

Gaskets.

Gaskets, gaskets, gaskets, gaskets. Should do them all while the engine is out of the car. Front and rear main seals, all new belts including timing belt and pulley, basically freshen up everything you can while you have the chance. Plan on replacing worn out rubber hoses as well, since many of them will probably be as old as the engine itself and have never been pulled off. Driftmotion has an entire 7M kit of gaskets and seals for just such a job, and there is also a silicon hose kit you can get to replace all the rubber underneath the hood as well. You have to measure and cut the right thickness hose for each one, but it saves future headaches and makes the engine bay look even better. Don't forget to toss out those old hose clamps and get some new ones that screw on tight with a flathead screwdriver.

Also, like it's been said before, starter, water pump, oil pump (if you can afford it), etc...
