Turbo bearing leaking?

Put simply.... NO. The coolant runs in an isolated cavity with a fairly heavy wall to prevent corrosion from opening it up into the rest of the housing. It is VERY unlikely and VERY, VERY rare with the CT-26. More likely than not you've got a blown head gasket.

A new turbo will have no movement, axial or radial, which you could perceive without fine measuring instruments. The TSRM details how to check (and with what tools) to make sure that that movement is within the serviceability threshold.

i would hope a new turbo has no play, all i remember my old turbo was whithin the tolerances but i messured so long ago cant remember what they where off the top of my head

chances are if you can notice a shift you probably need to rebuild.

0.13mm axial
0.18mm radial

3.0mm... big difference.

don't get disheartened, its a 20 year old turbo charger.. mine does the same thing m8. It's just time for a new one is all. =) cheers! Look at it not as a money sink, but a chance to upgrade.
