89 7mgte burning lots of oil

so ive got an 89 supra with a 7mgte. the head gasket blew externally. so i ripped it down, installed a new head and a new turbo. got it back together and it was leaking a ton of oil and have no oil pressure. found out that no cam seals were installed in the head. i bnought the head from a company that had a good reputation, and i dare say it but off ebay. i installed new cam seals and the car starts up and runs ok. seems to sputter a little b \it and smoke a ton out of the tail pipe. there was some residue of oil in the exhaust as the old turbo did leak oil on decel. also the compressor wheel was chewed up so i replaced it. i have no leaks what so ever. my temp gauge isnt reading as well as the oil pressure gauge but thats another issue. i did not touch the bottom end. i did pull a valve cover after it had been running and there is oil all over the came and whatnot so i assume the oil pressure is just as good as it was before it pulled it apart. i probably have the wrong wires hooked up to the sensors. the connectors are no more and just have basic connectors on it from the last previous owners.

so my issue is, as well as cam seals did whoever rebuilt the head forget to put valve seals in? can i change or install them with the head on or do i have to take it back off? what damage might be done with running it about 5 minutes tops with no valve seals? would it still be able to run without the seals and getting a bunch of oil in the cylinders? im really hitting a wall here and just want this car to be back on the road like it used to be.

I get a new head from the same people and also forgot to install the cam seal had oil all over my engine bay. The head came with a red tag say u must install cam seal but I don't see it. U can install them now u just have to remove the cam cover, gears and timing belt to get to them.

went to start it up today after 2 months of sitting so i could get it out fo the garage to work on something else and it started just fine and ran fine. no smoke came out and no misfires. im stunned and mystified at what happened. not often does a car fix itself and when it does its not usually a good thing but im really hoping it holds now. also got the temp and oil sensor hooked back up right so its now on the road :) just figured i would update about it fixing itself.

cars do not...fix themselves..

I'm reminded of an event that took place when I was around 12.. My mother and I were driving to Columbus in our old Bonneville. The car started to over heat then we heard a loud pop and the temp gauge went back down.. my mom, believer in magic. Started praising Jesus on how he fixed her car for her.. 2 minutes later it started jerking and we were stranded on the side of the freeway.. I'm not being cynical. I love Jesus too.. Perhaps you just burnt off any remaining oil laying around in your system, or it had a chance to settle and get out of the way..

cheers, keep us posted.

after checking all fluids and making sure they were good and timing it correctly i took it for a test drive. seemed to stutter just slightly on take off from driveway but then was fine for about a 1/4 and then cut almost all the power and wanted to stall and was stuttering very badly. i turned it around and almost didnt make it home. when i turned around i stopped completely and it stalled. i started it again and it ran like crap and then stalled again. i was able to get it back home. about half way up my driveway (about 1/8 of a mile) it ran better and wasn't missing and sputtering. i haven't messed with it since but im just getting more mad at it by the day. its gorgeous out and i want to drive it. what kind of stuff should i start checking. oh, i forgot to mention that when it was sputtering at its worst the check engine light would pop on and off. it did not stay on though. before i replaced the head the car always had a check engine light on and it hadnt come back on until i went to test drive it. im not sure what changed but i think it was on before b/c of an o2 sensor. it has a full 3 inch stainless exhaust with no cat sop i thinks thats why it was on before. it ran fine and i had other stuff i was working on so i never bothered to pull the code. now i wish i would have so i could know :S
