info on dropping the supra

okay so i want to lower my car with B&G springs but my car is a daily driver and will see very little to no drifting, so is it recommended i get struts as well? The suspension as it is does not feel too bad. and if i get struts, do any springs fit on any struts?

i mean honestly.....i did lol i bought some drop springs and kyb gr2. Which are i believe is not quite the oem struts (no tems) but they are very nice. My supra handles amazingly lol and there cheap...if u go to rockauto.com i believe there $38 as of now....................and since ur gonna lower it. Might as well toss some struts and u wouldnt want to be bottoming out too.

i just installed the gr2 in mine and even tho there not performance or anything there much better than my blown factory ones:p. car handels much better and i can actualy take corners whith confidence, if you go to advanced auto parts they will price match hoarse power freaks.com price of 50$ a piece, and that includes the free shipping

I like the GR-2s better then the Tokico "Blues" (nickname is there for a reason) which are priced twice as much... but neither is suited for much more than an in and a half drop.... BUT with the GR-2s it hurts a lot less to replace them every couple years.

I daily drive my supra so should i pit some gr2 or the illuminas? And an 1.5" drop is perfect.

Jay633 03-02-2012 08:40 AM

Are the illuminas much more comfortable then gr2's?

cre 03-02-2012 04:56 PM

The Illuminas are an adjustable, TEMS compatible damper. I'd have to say the GR-2s fall about in the middle of the Illuminas' adjustment range (it's been a while since I drove on a new set of either). If you've got old struts in there, anything new might feel simply amazing to you. Replacing tall and soft springs and replacing springy dampers on such a heavy vehicle makes a very notable difference. TEMS is nice but it's nothing I'll ever got out of my way for.

yea i mean tems is pretty awesome...but keep in mind...its 20+ year old technology. But the gr2's handle epically, i mean nothing compared to coil overs but i keep right up with my friends who have 240's and Nissan 300z's on coils and take the turns as fast as them and handle just the same.

Springs and sway bars have much more to do with cornering than the dampers.
