Even if you're doing this yourself you should have the block and head inspected by a shop. If you do the valve stem seals make sure you don't rotate the valves as they're likely out of round enough to leak if they're not seated the same way as when they came out. EDIT: The TSRM will walk you all the way through the rebuild. There are a couple little things it assumes you already know but for the most part you shouldn't have too many question as long as you follow it closely. I STRONGLY recommend you avoid using a third party publication such as Haynes for direction in this.
