flywheel
Okay so I have a 89 supra NA automatic I'm swapping it to a five speed w58 out of a 85 celica supra with the 5mge what I was wondering if I would need a flywheel out of a celicasupra or an mkiii? Does it matter if I use a Turbo flywheel on a non Turbo? Ill be pulling the part out of a junk car so if it will work then I will use whatever is available. Just not sure what's there yet

It's all different for the MKIII and yes, it matters if it's for the GTE or GE... Shouldn't be a big deal, new or used GE clutches and flywheels are almost always cheaper.

i ran a 5mge flywheel on my 7m a few years back, its pretty well the same, but the pressure plates are weaker on the 5mge. and yesw as cre said none of the gte products will work with a N/A.
also beware that the older w58s shifters are in a slightly different spot. be sure to buy a brand new master and slave clutch cylinders as they are WORTH the money. and dont forget to search the forum for 5 speed swaps there is LOTS of great info around here, just gotta search.:bigthumb: |
So the same shifter but different extension housing?

here is a thread about mk2w58 into mk3. and yes, the mk2 w58 extension housing is further forward than the mk3 you may a slight clearance issue. |
